There’s nothing like snuggling up on the couch, rugged up in a warm blanket on a cold winter night, sipping on hot chocolate and reading a good book. Ah, we can picture our Sunday night already. Unfortunately, we all know hot chocolate can spell trouble for our sleep. Hot milk loaded with sugary chocolate powder isn’t a treat we can afford to have every night; it's bad news for our waistlines, and our sleep!
Thankfully, amazing nutritionist, Shannon Rosie is here to help. Between running a fabulous new restaurant, Rosie’s in Coogee, NSW, and launching a great book, Conscious Cocktails, Shannon has created a perfect hot chocolate recipe for The Goodnight Co. It’s perfect with low sugar content, dairy free and healthy fats; a treat that won’t keep you up all hours of the night.
These all-natural ingredients, combined with our Deep Sleep Supplement Powder will warm you from the inside and aid uninterrupted sleep, whilst helping to promote regular sleep patterns. The combination of amino acids in our Deep Sleep Supplement Powder are scientifically recognised to support sleep and relaxation, perfect for those experiencing sleep difficulties due to stress, anxiety and lifestyle influences. You can also rest assured that cacao doesn't naturally contain any caffeine content. Instead, cacao is filled with magnesium (a muscle relaxant), iron (for healthy oxygen levels) and chromium (balances blood sugar) which have some great benefits for bedtime and shouldn't leave you feeling restless.
Best of all? The hot chocolate is to-die-for! The all-natural ingredients and subtle vanilla of the Deep Sleep Powder will have you savouring every last drop. Check out the recipe below. You can thank us later!
Bedtime Hot Chocolate
Serves 1
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cup coconut milk
- 2 tsp almond butter or alternative nut butter
- 1 tsp Deep Sleep Supplement Powder
- 1 tbsp cocoa powder
- 1 tsp organic coconut oil
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- Pinch quality sea salt, to taste
- Sweeten with 1 serve Stevia, or 1 tsp maple syrup (optional)
Method
If you have a milk frother then all you need to do is add all ingredients and pop on the ‘steam/hot’ setting. Easy!
If you don’t have a milk frother - no worries! - this can be done in a blender (just blend until nice and smooth) and then heat over the stove until warm.
